Alessandro Mendini (Milan, August 16, 1931 – Milan, February 18, 2019) was an Italian designer, author and architect. He played an important role in the development of Italian design. He also worked for the magazines Casabella, Modo and Domus. In 1977 he became a member of Alchimia, an avant-garde designer group. In 1989, he founded the design agency Atelier Mendini with his brother Francesco.
